AVRO Lancaster of the BBMF

This is the AVRO Lancaster operated by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

This recording well represents the slow lumbering but graceful approach of the Lancaster. All four Rolls Royce Merlins sound fantastic.

PA474 is one of only two Lancasters remaining in airworthy condition out of the 7377 that were built – the other being in Canada . She was built in Chester in mid-1945 and was earmarked for the ‘Tiger Force in the Far East.

Hispano Buchon (Messerschmitt Bf 109)

The Hispano Aviacion HA-1109 and HA-1112 were license-built versions of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G-2 developed in Spain during and after WWII. 

This audio clip was recorded at Old Warden Aerodrome, UK in the summer of 2008.

The picture below shows a rebuilt Buchon with a Daimler Benz engine. The aircraft in the audio is a post-war built airframe running with a Rolls Royce Merlin.

 

 

A Hispano Aviación HA-1112 (c/n 156 C.4K-87 (D-FMBB), FM+BB), a license-built Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-2. Rebuilt by the EADS/Messerschmitt Foundation, Germany with a Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine as a G-6. The paint scheme is missing the Swastika, due to current German laws.
